William J. Ward, Jr.

William J. Ward, Jr. is the Director of the MHS Degree Program in Health Finance and Management at the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health and a Principal with Healthcare Management Resources Inc., a Maryland-based consulting firm. He is an experienced professional, having spent more than 20 years in operational and financial leadership positions in health care and manufacturing. He holds additional faculty appointments at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing and the University of Maryland School of Nursing. Prior to joining the firm, Ward served as Vice President for Operations of a 650-bed member hospital of the Johns Hopkins Health System.

His second book, Health Care Budgeting and Financial Management for Non-Financial Managers was published in early 1994. His articles have appeared in such journals as Health Care Management Review, Healthcare Financial Management, and Management Review. He has lectured widely on a variety of health care subjects.

Bill's professional affiliations include the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Maryland Association of Health Care Executives, and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
